We travel 10 km deep into the National Park and you will see ancient deerhunting pits that age back to 3000 to 6000 years. You will hear stories about deer hunting and get know ways of hunting during stoneage. From the pits the journey comes back in time to 1800`s and to the oldest reindeer farm in Lemmenjoki, wich is famous Saami family`s farm, Kaapin Jouni`s place. Farm reflects saami culture and shows the diversity of it`s rich culture.

You`ll hear how saami transformed from nomad life to permanent houses and hear about reindeer herding and saami traditional singing, yoik. On top of everything we have lunch and coffee by the river. In the end of trip we meet and feed reindeer on our yard. See worldfamous felt maker at work

You are welcome to visit the felt artist Kaija Paltto’s Ateljee, where you will hear about the reindeer sámi life and history in Lemmenjoki. You’ll hear also how felt has been made for thousands of years from sheep wool into many purposes. At the workshop you will see how wool fibres turn to pictures in the hands of a felt maker, describing the surrounding nature.
